I want to show you a magical place.
The Minack Theatre in Cornwall, England is magnificent not only because of its majestic, awe-inspiring setting.
This is the result of an idea a young woman had – the idea to build a theatre, (theater to my American friends!), into the very cliff face.
Rowena Cade was in her 20s when she began the project. She continued it until her death in 1983, aged almost 90.
She was a small woman, born in terrible times, with a big dream and an indomitable spirit.
My plea to you in watching this short video Iāve made of some of the pictures I took during a recent visit there, is not simply to watch and marvel.
It isnāt even to merely read the story on Wikipedia.
My plea – and my real purpose in putting this up for you to see – is to model Rowena.
Success leaves clues. You may not want to carve a theatre into the rocks above the ocean, but itās quite conceivable that you have big dreams.
I very much doubt if Rowena Cade ever once entertained the thought that she couldnāt do this.
In fact, there is a local tale that when she was well into her seventies, she clambered down onto the beach below and ārescuedā several large timber beams from a recent shipwreck, seeing use for them in her theatre.
Such plundering is, of course, illegal. But when the authorities challenged her, she simply told them to look at her – a tiny old woman – and asked them if they seriously believed she could have done such a thing.
Seemingly, that was sufficient evidence and she was never challenged again.
But she had indeed taken the timbers.
Rowena Cade was clearly a force to be reckoned with.
Iām not recommending that you plunder from wrecked ships. But you can live the life you dream of, and you can turn it into the kind of reality that generations to come will be positively affected by.
