“Have an attitude of gratitude” sounds like a platitude!
Nice idea, good for Sunday mornings but for the rest of the week it doesn’t really count or matter, right?
I’m certainly not here to preach or to tell you how to live. Maybe you have a lot of things on your mind right now so you feel justified in worrying or moaning.
In fact, I think most of us feel that at times. Me too!
But hold on there a minute! Can you really find nothing to be thankful for?
You have your health don’t you? No? How about someone who loves you? Not that either? Well, you have the ability to read, hear and understand these words at least!
Now you don’t have to think about any of those things. Like I said, I’m not here to preach. But I do have a question that might make you think differently. Ready?
Why WOULDN’T you think about something you’re grateful for?
How is focussing on all your problems serving you?
Are you coming up with solutions or just reminding yourself how bad you feel? Are your friends, relations and loved ones happy to be around you or have you detected a whiff of fatigue at listening to your troubles? (I’m not saying you should never share your problems. I’m saying there are other things to look at in life and that you have a choice!)
Besides, people are more likely to want to help you out any way they can when their general experience of being with you is that they feel good. That makes them grateful for YOU!
There are really just two messages from this post:
1. Remember you ALWAYS have a choice of what you think about and how you think about it.
2. Gratitude makes you feel good.
That’s it. Here’s what happens when you feel good.
- You make better decisions.
- You enjoy life more.
- You experience peace of mind.
- Other people like being around you.
- That, in turn, cultivates more friendships and makes people want to open doors and opportunities for you.
Result?
Your worries and problems disappear!
Something to think about?
