Perhaps you’ve noticed an odd thing about us humans.
As children, we crave – even demand – that we have the latest toy, fad or fashion. We protest to the point of tantrum if necessary that everybody else at school has it, wears it or swaps it and we are not going to be the odd one out.
Christmas toy retailers follow these trends like sleuths.
Although the fashion fads don’t go away once we’re grown up, we tend to get more confident about expressing our individuality. We don’t want to be like everyone else any more. It’s important to be recognised for who we are. In fact, we pretty much demand, in our private lives at least, that we are loved for our uniqueness.
So far so good.
What is astounding is that so many people go through life disliking themselves.
Just answer – in your head only – these questions. Be honest. No one’s listening. Not even me.
- Do you like your body?
- Do you ever criticise yourself – out loud and in public?
- Do you find it difficult to accept compliments – or even reject them?
If you have even a smidgin of a “yes” to any of those questions, you are letting self doubt kill your life.
I know that sounds harsh, but somewhere it’s holding you back.
It may be in the arena of love. Or perhaps you’ve never gone for that dream job because you just didn’t think you were good enough. Or you never took that course that might have opened so many doors … are you getting my drift here?
Your uniqueness is what makes you special. There has never been and will never be another you.
So why would you hide that?
There is a way out of hiding. It’s not too late to stop killing your life.
No one is served by you continuing to do so.
I call the process “Esteem Engine” – because self belief is your driving force.
